Research Roadshow – Moorfields at Hoxton

Researcher from the NIHR Moorfields Biomedical Research Centre, Moofields Eye Hospital and the UCL institute of Ophthalmology are visiting Moorfields Satellite sites to speak with patients, families and staff about research.

The work we do looks at why health problems occur and then looks at ways to delay, treat and cure those issues. We will speak about the methodology we use and why people taking part in research from all perspectives and avenues is important.

Researcher joining us will be Dr Ana Alonso-Carriazo Fernández, a researcher at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, who is working on gene therapy approaches for inherited retinal diseases. Her work focuses on using CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing to develop treatments that could one day prevent vision loss before it begins. Her engagement work is accessible to all people, young to old.
